2001 Baba

The next stage of the Cup was organized on 21-22 July in Slovekia. Some facts about the circuit: it's 5500m long with 19 bends and an average 5,1% grade. The difference of level is 280 m and the narrowest part of the road is 6 m.
On the Saturday trainings the rain was the biggest rival. Due to it everybody had worse times (the formula cars couldn't do too much against the Cn category cars) and the breakdown lorry had much work to do. The best time was done by the Italian Franz Tschager followed by Walter Leitgeb and László Szász. During the second training nothing changed.
On Sunday it was still raining so everybody used their tyres for wet road. The asphalt was not very 'friendly'. After the first run László had an 8-second handicap. Letigeb's time was 2:23,93 and László's was 2:31,13. As a consequence during the second run Tschager and Leitgeb fought for the victory while László had to strive for the third place. Finally Leitgeb gained victory in spite of the fact that during the second run Tschager was faster. Unfortunately László couldn't come in third. In his category he got the 4th place and he became the 6th in the absolute category. Thus we left Baba with bad memories.
