2001 Gurk

This time the team was a little less nervous on their arrival to this little Austiran village, not far away from Klagenfurt. Our great rival, Leitgeb didn't take part in the race here as he thought he wouldn't be able to overcome László in the Cup.
László was calm before the race as during the trainings he was the fastest and his rivals couldn't catch up with him. At the second training he had 1:58,995; the Austrian Waldy and the German Stenger followed him. In the race for the final victory László had to keep an eye on Herbert Pregartner as he had only a few points less in the Mobil Cup.
After the successful Saturday the race could come on which the question of the final victory had to be decided. Herbert Stenger proved again that he was the "lion of the mountains" as he came in first after the first run with 1:56,762. László Szász had the second best time and the third was Herman Waldy. Pregartner came in fifth. The second run wasn't luckier, either. The racer started before László turned round in a bend and László was warned by flags to slow down. Thus he couldn't keep up with Stenger, but as Pregartner was slower again, László gained the final victory in the Mobil Hill Cup in 2001.
