2001 St.Agatha

There were only three races left so László Szász needed every single point to be able to gain victory in the Cup. Our team was very optimistic when we arrived at the 3600 m long circuit.
On the trainingss there were three runs so that the racers should be able to study every part of the circuit well. Unfortunately the weather was very changeable and the asphalt became wet. Thus the racers had to use raintyres and different equipment to keep them warm and to achieve better results during the race. On the first training everybody wanted to become familiar with the circuit and the German Herbert Stenger was the fastest with 1:26,511; the second was Uwe Lang and the third was László with 1:29,668. On the second training, after making little changes on the car, László Szász was the fastest, making 1:20,458. Stenger had the second best time, 1:21,384. During the third training László managed to achieve a 4 seconds shorter time-result: 1:16,294 and he proved to be the fastest.
On Sunday at the race there were two runs. The weather was still rainy. At the first run László Szász had a fantastic time, 1:18,462. Stenger, who followed him, was 1,5 seconds slower. The race was exciting as both Leitgeb and Stenger wanted to gain victory as well and did everything for it. But on this day nobody could overcome László. At the second run he made 1:21,17 while Leitgeb had 1:23,344 and Stenger had 1:24,231.
